Canada Day Celebration 2020

CANADA DAY CELEBRATION 2020

We celebrated Canada Day on October 30, 2020 because on  Canada Day we were unable to hold an event due to COVID-19.

The event was sponsored by Canadian Heritage and the Cape Tormentine Community Development Corp.

Since it was so close to Halloween we asked everyone to dress in a costume or in Canada Day clothes and join us at the end of their driveways to make the event fun for all.

The parade left from the Cape Tormentine Beach Campground and traveled to Bayfield. Chris Kean handed out treat bags to every household to each person. To maintain social distancing he used a hockey stick to pass the treat bags to each person. He was assisted by Florence LeBlanc.

Slim Pickin’s and Dorothy Kean were the musicians on the horse pulled wagon. Wagon was provided by Mike Breau of Spirit Ridge farm. The Bayfield Cape Tormentine fire department were also part of the parade with two vehicles. One driven by Jenni LeBlanc the other by Donnie Sears. Route 16 diner participated by providing 30 treat bags.

When the parade got to the Cape Tormentine Legion community members held up signs with the lyrics to OH Canada in both official languages.

Slim Pickin’s and Dorothy Kean led the singing of Oh Canada.

MLA Megan Mitton was in attendance.

The parade continued to Bayfield. The event was very much appreciated by everyone.

A big thank you to everyone who attended, volunteered, and participated to make this a memorable event
